About Kristin Whiting-Davis, LCSW-C, LICSW, LCSW

As a licensed clinical social worker and behavioral health leader, I offer over 25 years of experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and ages. I am also a board approved clinical supervisor in DC, Maryland and Virginia. With extensive training in evidence-based therapies, I help individuals on their journey to growth and healing by offering compassionate, expert care tailored to your unique challenges.


As a wife and mother of two incredible sons, alongside several beloved pets including two dogs and two cats, my journey through marriage, separation, divorce, and remarriage has provided me with profound insights and understanding. Additionally, my roles as a daughter and sister have further enriched my perspective, highlighted the significance of comprehending and honored individual truths, all of which deeply inform my work.

I am deeply passionate about nature, particularly trees, mountains, rivers and streams. An avid lifelong learner and reader, I delve into subjects close to my heart. Seeking out new experiences, I find joy in traveling and camping, especially in our country's breathtaking National Parks.

Over the course of my career, I've gained extensive experience across diverse settings, including child welfare, community mental health, hospitals, schools, healthcare, group practices, and corporate environments. These varied experiences in providing therapy to individuals, couples, and groups have sharpened my clinical skills and deepened my commitment to fostering mindfulness in both my own life and the lives of those I work with. I actively pursue mindfulness in my daily life and have led mindfulness sessions for individuals and large groups, as well as conducted trainings and speaking engagements on mindfulness-based topics.

Whether in a therapy session or during a presentation, I sensitively recognize the shared challenges of the human experience while valuing individual differences. Understanding the hurdles, you face in both work and personal life, I strive to empathize with your journey. By acknowledging your unique life path and meeting you where you are, I aim to foster heightened awareness, compassion, and purpose towards a more fulfilling life, both personally and professionally. I navigate discussions of seemingly "uncomfortable" topics such as emotions, sex, secrets, regrets, as well as other vulnerabilities, with ease, creating an environment of open dialogue and understanding. Moreover, I wholeheartedly embrace the humor, joy, and occasional awkwardness that come with the journey of self-discovery.

I’ve spent over 25 years serving children, teens, adults, couples and families.

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This method focuses on identifying and changing negative thoughts and behaviors that contribute to the client's distress.

    • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): This therapy assists individuals in restructuring their thoughts, learning about trauma, using relaxation techniques, and gradually facing trauma-related memories.

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): This therapy focuses on teaching skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.

    • Mindfulness-Based Therapy: This modality integrates mindfulness practice with therapy to cultivate awareness, self-compassion, and acceptance of the present moment.

    • Multicultural and Diversity Approaches: Ability to integrate a multicultural lens into practice, considering factors such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic background when addressing clients' concerns.

    • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) is an approach that helps individuals embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling controlled by them. By fostering mindfulness and committed action, ACT empowers you to live in alignment with your values, even in the face of life's challenges.
